Boyle County, Kentucky (Map It) was created on February 15, 1842 from Lincoln County and Mercer County. The county was named in honor of John Boyle, Chief Justice of the Kentucky Court of Appeals (1810–1826) .
Boyle County is bordered by Mercer County (north), Garrard County (east), Lincoln County (southeast), Casey County (south), Marion County (southwest), Washington County (northwest).
