Green County, Kentucky (Map It) was created on December 20, 1792 from  Lincoln County and Nelson County. The county was named in honor of Nathanael Greene (1742–1786), Revolutionary War general .
Green County is bordered by LaRue County (north), Taylor County (northeast), Adair County (southeast), Metcalfe County (southwest), Hart County (west).
