Minneapolis Pioneers and Soldiers is the oldest existing cemetery in Minneapolis with burials dating back to 1853. It was privately owned and non-sectarian. There are approximately 22,000 people buried in the cemetery. In the early 1920s, between 5,000 and 7,000 people were disinterred and buried in other cemeteries.
