Tazewell County, Illinois (Map It) was created on January 31, 1827 from unorganized land and Fayette County. Tazewell County was named for Littleton Waller Tazewell (1774-1860), United States Senator from (and later governor of) Virginia.
Tazewell County is bordered by  Woodford County (north), McLean County (east), Logan County (south), Mason County (southwest), Fulton County (west), Peoria County (northwest)
