White County, Illinois (Map It) was created on December 9, 1815 from Madison County. White County was named for Isaac White (1776-1811), resident of Illinois who enlisted in the Indiana militia and was killed at the Battle of Tippecanoe.

White County is bordered by  Edwards County (north), Wabash County (northeast), Gibson County, Indiana (northeast), Posey County, Indiana (east), Gallatin County (south), Saline County (west), Hamilton County (west), Wayne County (northwest)
