Pike County, Georgia<\/strong> (Map It<\/a>)<\/em> was created on December 9, 1822<\/strong> from Monroe County<\/a>. Portions of Pike County were used to help create the following counties: Upson County<\/a> (1824), Spalding County<\/a> (1851), and Lamar County<\/a> (1920). Pike County was named in honor of General\u00a0Zebulon Pike<\/a>\u00a0(1779 - 1813), explorer and a hero of the\u00a0War of 1812<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n

Pike County<\/strong> is bordered by \u00a0Spalding County<\/a> (north), Lamar County<\/a> (east), Upson County<\/a> (south), Meriwether County<\/a> (west)<\/p>\n\n
