Alleghany county was named for the Alleghany Mountains. <\/p>\n\n

Alleghany County<\/strong> is bordered by Bath County<\/a> (north), Rockbridge County<\/a> (east), Botetourt County<\/a> (southeast), Craig County<\/a> (south), Monroe County, West Virginia<\/a> (southwest), Greenbrier County, West Virginia<\/a> (west).<\/p>\n\n
