PLEASE NOTE: I have a full time job and cannot do extensive research for you. If you have a citation, I can look up wills, deeds, vital statistics, obituaries, or copy specific citations from books.
BOOKS: I will need specific citations; book title, name to check in index and/or page numbers.
NEWSPAPERS: I will look for obituaries from 1940 to the present. I will need the name of the individual, the date of the death and the location or the newspaper that you believe the obituary will be found.
Pre-1900 DEEDS, WILLS: I will need the type of record and the date recorded along with the name of the individual and the county you believe the record was recorded.
VITAL STATISTICS: Will look for a birth, death or marriage record. Please give the individual’s name(s), county or city where the record should be recorded, name, type of record and the approximate date the record was recorded. If there is an index, I can search for a specific range of time, if there is no index, I need a specific date. And remember, the state began requiring the recording of vital statistics in 1853.
IF I FIND SOMETHING: I will let you know how much it will cost to photocopy and mail. In most cases, I can send a PDF or jpeg copy by email free of charge (please indicate which you prefer).
I asked for a chancery case that ended up being very lengthy and I was so happy to have the information provided.
I am very grateful for the work done on my behalf as there is no way I could travel to Virginia and do this myself.
Thank you so very much for your time!
